Terms of Service
1. Acceptance of terms
By downloading, installing, or using DayLog ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App. DayLog is an independent software product ("we", "us", "our").
2. Description of service
DayLog is a macOS menu bar application that tracks application usage on your Mac, categorises that usage using Apple Intelligence, and generates plain-language summaries of your workday. The App is available as a free download with optional paid Pro features.
3. Eligibility and system requirements
DayLog requires an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or later) running macOS 26 Tahoe or later. By using the App you confirm that your device meets these requirements. You must be at least 18 years old to purchase a Pro subscription.
4. Pro subscription
Pro features are available via a paid subscription or one-time purchase, processed by Paddle (our merchant of record). Subscription plans are billed on the cycle you select at checkout. You are responsible for all charges incurred under your account. We reserve the right to change pricing with reasonable notice.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to reverse-engineer, decompile, modify, or create derivative works from the App. You agree not to use the App for any unlawful purpose. You may not share, transfer, or resell your subscription or Pro access to others.
6. Intellectual property
DayLog and all associated content, design, and code are the exclusive property of DayLog. Nothing in these terms grants you any right to our intellectual property beyond the limited licence to use the App as described.
7. Privacy
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these terms by reference.
8. Disclaimers
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. Your use of the App is at your own risk.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, DayLog shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the App, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
10. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time if you breach these terms. You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your Mac.
11. Changes to terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. We will update the "Last updated" date above when changes are made.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of South Africa.
13. Contact
For questions about these terms, contact us at daylog@glassbarn.org.za.
Privacy Policy
The short version: DayLog tracks which apps you use on your Mac. All of that data stays on your device. We never see it, never collect it, and never send it anywhere. The only data that leaves your Mac is your email address (used to manage your subscription) and anonymous usage statistics via RevenueCat.
1. Data collected on your device (never leaves your Mac)
DayLog stores the following data locally in ~/Library/Application Support/DayLog/ on your Mac only:
- Names of applications you use and how long you use them
- AI-generated category assignments for each application
- Your daily and weekly usage summaries
This data is never transmitted to our servers or any third party. It is used solely to display your usage statistics within the App. You can delete it at any time by removing the DayLog application support folder.
2. Apple Intelligence
DayLog uses Apple Intelligence (on-device AI) to categorise applications and generate daily summaries. All Apple Intelligence processing happens entirely on your Mac using Apple's FoundationModels framework. No data is sent to Apple's servers or our servers as part of this process.
3. Data we collect for subscriptions
When you purchase or restore a DayLog Pro subscription, we collect:
- Email address — used as your account identifier with RevenueCat to manage your subscription entitlement across devices. Stored locally on your Mac and with RevenueCat.
- Payment information — handled entirely by Paddle, our merchant of record. We never see or store your payment details.
4. RevenueCat
We use RevenueCat to manage subscription entitlements. RevenueCat receives your email address (used as your app user ID) and anonymous purchase event data to determine whether your Pro subscription is active. RevenueCat's privacy policy is available at revenuecat.com/privacy.
5. Paddle
Paddle is our merchant of record and processes all payments. When you purchase a subscription, Paddle collects your email address, payment details, and billing country as required to process the transaction and comply with tax obligations. Paddle's privacy policy is available at paddle.com/legal/privacy.
6. Data we do not collect
We do not collect, transmit, or store:
- The content of documents, emails, or messages you work on
- Screenshots or recordings of your screen
- Keystrokes or mouse movements
- Your location
- Any personal information beyond your email address for subscription management
7. Data retention
Local usage data is stored on your Mac until you delete the App or manually clear it. Your email address and subscription status are retained with RevenueCat for as long as your account exists. You can request deletion by contacting us.
8. Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of personal data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, contact us at daylog@glassbarn.org.za. For data held by Paddle or RevenueCat, please contact those companies directly.
9. Children
DayLog is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above when changes are made. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance.

Refund Policy
All purchases are final. DayLog does not offer refunds under any circumstances.
No refund policy
Due to the nature of digital software products, all sales of DayLog Pro subscriptions and one-time purchases are final and non-refundable. By completing a purchase you acknowledge and agree that you are not entitled to a refund for any reason, including but not limited to:
- Change of mind after purchase
- Failure to meet system requirements (Apple Silicon Mac, macOS 26 or later) — please verify compatibility before purchasing
- Dissatisfaction with features or functionality
- Accidental purchase
- Technical issues on your device
Free trial
DayLog offers a 7-day free trial with access to all Pro features before any payment is required. We strongly encourage you to use the trial period to evaluate the App before purchasing. The existence of a free trial reinforces our no-refund policy.
Subscription cancellations
You may cancel a recurring subscription at any time through your Paddle customer portal. Cancellation stops future billing but does not entitle you to a refund for the current or any previous billing period. Your Pro access remains active until the end of the paid period.
Exceptional circumstances
We reserve the sole discretion to issue refunds in exceptional circumstances. Any such decision is final and does not set a precedent for future requests.
Chargebacks
Initiating a chargeback or payment dispute instead of contacting us will result in immediate termination of your DayLog Pro access. If you have a billing concern, please contact us at daylog@glassbarn.org.za before contacting your bank.
